Double murder suspect quizzed further
The bodies were found in a Hampshire village
Police have been granted an extra 24 hours to question a man they are holding in connection with the double murder of two women in Hampshire.
Elizabeth Francis, 84, and her daughter Teresa Francis, 54, were discovered at Wykeham House, Ropley, near Alton, on Thursday night. A post-mortem examination revealed the women died from multiple head injuries. Detectives, who launched a murder investigation last week, can now hold the 24-year-old man until 2200 GMT on Monday in connection with the deaths. Station closed The man originally tried to talk to detectives on Thursday evening, only to find his local police station was closed. Hampshire police said he initially went to Winchester police station, in Hampshire, but after finding the station shut, he drove 15 miles to Southampton. He presented himself to the front desk where he was arrested. |
