Breakfast at Alder Hey
Breakfast at Christmas
There's a competition each day we are at Alder Hey
Starting on Monday 16th of December, Breakfast's extended Christmas coverage comes live from Alder Hey children's hospital. Join Philippa Forrester from 0830 to 0915am on BBC One

  • On Monday's programme

Philippa looked at the hospital's art work with the artist George Nicholls who works there for nothing.

She also met the staff who run the Accident and Emergency department; talking to a leading surgeon - and, met the Hospital's Chief Executive.

  • On Tuesday's programme

Claire Sweeney joined Philippa for a tour of the Physiotherapy Department.

Today's competition prize was a day's training with the Everton football team

  • On Wednesday's programme

Philippa looked at Alder Hey's fundraising initiative, the Rocking Horse Appeal which is raising money for a new oncology centre.

It was also day three of our competition and Fearne Cotton and Simon Grant from the BBC's Saturday Show popped in to see Philippa at Alder Hey.

  • On Thursday's programme

Today Philippa looked at the Ronald McDonald house - one of five sponsored by the burger chain - that provides a place for parents of sick children so they can be near each other.

The house includes all the facilities you would expect to find in your own home. Actress Denise Welch popped in to see Philippa.

She's known for her character Natalie Horrocks in Coronation Street (around about 1997) but she also made use of the house when her son Louis was treated at Alder Hey.

  • On Friday's programme

For the last programme in our special series, Philippa will be visiting the best decorated ward in the children's hospital as it gears up for the Christmas holidays.

There will be two special visitors today. Actor Ricky Tomlinson and Top of the Pops presenter Richard Blackwood.
