Philippa Forrester broadcasts from Kew Gardens
Philippa braves the cold at Kew Gardens, West London
Philippa Forrester paid her final visit to Kew Gardens today (Friday)

  • Joining Philippa today were the top garden designer Diarmuid Gavin. He's the face of the BBC's Home Front in the Garden, where he's known for his innovative and highly unusual work.

  • Philippa looked at the magic and myths of Christmas traditions with the author Patrick Harding.

  • Also on the programme; chef Jean Christophe Novelli on the traditional Christmas dinner in Britain and France.

    He began his career at the age of fourteen as a baker, becoming head private chef to the Rothschild's family before the age of 20.

    On his arrival in England he worked for various Country House Hotels and as Chef Manager of Keith Floyd's Pub and Restaurant, winning awards for 'Face of the Future' as well as 'Country Restaurant of the Year' three times.

    His distinguished career saw him hold the title of Chef Patron of the Provence Restaurant in Lymington, Hampshire, he gained his first Michelin Star in 1992, and the Egon Ronay 'Dessert of the Year Award'.

    Competition

    And on top of that, today is the fifth and final day of our competition. One lucky winner will get to spend the day at the stately home Castle Howard in North Yorkshire.
