Crews from five stations helped fight the fire
An inquiry has begun into the cause of a large fire which broke out in a Cambridgeshire warehouse overnight.

At its height, 70 firefighters from across the county tackled the fire in Tosely Road in Graveley, near St Neots.

They worked until the early hours of the morning to put out the fire, which began at about 2330 GMT.

Divisional Fire Officer John Barlow said it had been a difficult job.

Crews withdrawn

He said: "It seemed to have been located near to a diesel tank containing about 500 gallons of diesel, which fuelled the initial fire and spread into the warehouse.

"During firefighters' operations part of the palletting system collapsed.

"We had to withdraw crews at one point."

Crews from Papworth, St Neots, Huntingdon, Ely and Cambridge were called to help extinguish the flames.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are continuing.
