Police officers gave the victim first aid
A man who had been arrested by police in north London has been killed after breaking away from the officers and running into the path of a bus.

Scotland Yard said the man was stopped in his car in Bill Nicholson Way, Tottenham, at about 2115 GMT on Tuesday.

He was arrested for alleged possession of an offensive weapon.

He escaped and ran into Tottenham High Road where he was hit by a bus.

He was taken by ambulance to the North Middlesex Hospital but died from his injuries.

An inquiry has begun under the supervision of the Police Complaints Authority.
