Mother charged with baby's murder

A woman has been charged with the murder of a five-month-old baby in Southampton.

Twenty-year-old Catherine Bloomfield, from the Millbrook area of the city, is charged with killing her baby son, Bleu Bloomfield, in April 2000.

She has also been charged with cruelty to three separate children, who cannot be named for legal reasons.

Hampshire Police Child Protection Unit and the Major Crime Team conducted the inquiry.

Ms Bloomfield was due to appear before magistrates in Southampton on Thursday.
