Jailed pensioner 'stopped eating'
Reginald Addington
Mr Addington did not want to go back to the home
An 84-year-old disabled man who was sent to prison following an incident at his care home has died in hospital after he refused to eat.

Reginald Addington was charged with criminal damage and affray after allegedly breaking a window at his former warden controlled home in Hall Green.

Mr Addington, who had cerebral palsy, was sent to prison twice because alternative accommodation could not be found.

Sue Tufft, care manager of South Birmingham Community Centre, said he was so worried about another magistrates court appearance that he stopped eating.

Ms Tufft said: "He said he felt he had nowhere to go and didn't want to go back to the home where he had been evicted.

"He just kept getting himself into trouble. Although I don't condone violence somebody somewhere could have helped him."
