Two killed by falling tree named
Police tape
Officers believe the tree was felled by a gust of wind
Two people who died after part of a tree fell on their car in south-west London have been named by police.

Stephen Bowyer, 26, and Laura Wood, 20, both from Battersea, were found by police trapped inside a car which had caught fire on Trinity Road in Wandsworth at 2100 GMT on Monday.

Firefighters put out the blaze and cut the couple free from the vehicle but they were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police believe a large gust of wind caused a large part of a tree, up to 15ft high, to fall. No other vehicle was involved.

Post mortem examinations were carried out at St George's Mortuary in Tooting, south London, on Wednesday.

The accident is being investigated by officers from the Collision Investigation Unit who are liaising with the Fire Brigade's fire Investigation Unit.
