Worker killed by tree
Yew
The worker was removing part of a yew tree
A worker has been killed while removing part of a tree at an historic house in south Shropshire.

The man, who has not been named, was removing part of a large yew tree in the grounds of Burford House.

He died after he was struck by a large part of the tree at about 1100 GMT on Wednesday.

Richard Osbourne, an environmental health officer with the district council, said a full health and safety investigation was being carried out.

He said: "We will be looking at issues surrounding equipment being used and the work that was being carried out.

"It is too early for us to draw any definite conclusions.

"There are still people we need to talk to so we can get the bigger picture."
