Journalism with a conscience
Harold Evans
Evans is a celebrated campaigning newspaperman
In a HARDtalk interview on 11 December, Harold Evans, Editor, met David Jessel.

Harold Evans is one of the great transatlantic chroniclers of our time.

He is a renowned journalist and a former editor of the Times and Sunday Times in London.

During the 1970's his campaigning journalism on the Times charted new territory for British broadsheet journalism.

His career spanned more than 50 years and he has just been voted "Greatest Editor of all Time" by his peers.

But he has also spent many years in the United States - and recently pulled together his observations and experience in his book The American Century.

As we now progress into a new century, one where US power, and paradoxically, vulnerability, has never more been more apparent, he spoke to David Jessel.

This interview can be watched in full on Tuesday 11 December on BBC World and BBC News 24 at the following times:

BBC News 24 (times shown in GMT) 0430, repeated 2230

BBC World (times shown in GMT) 0330, repeated 1130, 1530, 1830, 2330
