The Vortex: Your views
Grandage's debut is a 78-year-old Noel Coward play
The spotlight is on actor-turned-director Michael Grandage in his first outing as Sam Mendes' successor at London's celebrated Donmar Warehouse.
Grandage's production of Noel Coward's jazz age play The Vortex, starring Francesca Annis, opened to mixed reviews on Wednesday evening. Its theme of a high society family's complex relationships and dysfunctional behaviour shocked Britain's moral guardians in the 1920s.
"Grandage's utterly gripping and atmospheric production permeates the stage," wrote Mark Shenton for BBC News Online. "A stunning ensemble of actors gloriously illuminates the play." What is your view? Does Grandage do Coward's famous work justice - or are you wishing Mendes had never left?
