Scarborough star charged with rape
Karl Rose is still available for selection
Scarborough striker Karl Rose has appeared in court charged with rape.
Mr Rose, 24, is accused of raping a girl under 16 years of age. He appeared before Barnsley Magistrates' Court on Monday and was bailed to appear at Sheffield Crown Court on Friday, 13 December. The former Barnsley forward was not required to enter pleas at the hearing. Claims denied Mr Rose strenuously denies the allegations and an official statement from the club confirmed he was still available for selection. But manager Russell Slade is unlikely to pick the striker this weekend because he is currently sidelined with an injury. Mr Rose joined the Seasiders in December 2001 and has made 17 appearances this season.
