Wednesday investigate brawl allegations
Hillsborough Stadium
Sheffield Wednesday will speak to their players
Sheffield Wednesday are launching an investigation into allegations that players from the club were involved in a nightclub brawl.

It is alleged that doormen from the Bondi Beach Bar in Leeds were injured during a confrontation that took place in the early hours of Tuesday.

Two men were arrested outside the bar after the incident, British Transport Police have confirmed.

The men, who are not being named, were released on bail pending further enquiries.

Club statement

The club released an official statement only confirming that some of its players were in Leeds at the time of the incident.

Chief executive Alan Sykes said: "We are conducting our own investigation into the matter and will be speaking to all our players over the next 24 hours.

"Until those investigations are completed, we have no further comment to make."

Wednesday manager Chris Turner added: "I would be very disappointed if any player is proven to have been involved in this incident.

"If that is the case, they will be subject to appropriate sanctions under the club's disciplinary procedure."
