Body found in river search
Culham Lock at Sutton Courtenay, near Abingdon
Police first searched the area around Culham Lock
Police divers searching for a 12-year-old boy who disappeared while fishing have recovered a body from the River Thames.

Nathan Monaghan went missing from Sutton Courtenay, near Abingdon in Oxfordshire, on 9 November.

Despite an extensive search at the time, he was not found.

A body was recovered on Tuesday after a search by underwater police divers three miles downstream on the River Thames at Long Wittenham.

A spokesman for Thames Valley police said: "Police divers searching the River Thames in South Oxfordshire have this afternoon discovered a body."

Nathan's family, from Didcot, have been informed and are being comforted by family liaison officers.

A post-mortem examination and formal identification are expected later on Wednesday.

The youngster was fishing with a friend when he fell into the river at Culham Lock.

His friend, also aged 12, ran for help after Nathan fell off a weir and hit his head.
