Imelda Marcos due in court
The wife of the late president of the Philippines, Imelda Marcos, is to be tried next month on charges of hoarding millions of dollars of illegally acquired money in overseas banks.

The Philippine government originally filed the case 11 years ago.

It has not said how much money is involved, but the government has in the past alleged that up to $10bn was embezzled by Mrs Marcos and her husband, Ferdinand Marcos, during his 20-year rule.

At a pre-trial hearing in Manila, the court said proceedings would resume in the third week of January.

If convicted, she could face up to 20 years in jail.
