Continuing to search for peace
Carter: Still campaigning for freedom and democracy
On the day that former US President, Jimmy Carter, receives the Nobel Peace Prize he meets Tim Sebastian.
In October this year Jimmy Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for his "decades of untiring effort to find peaceful solutions to international conflicts, to advance democracy and human rights, and to promote economic and social development". Chairman Gunnar Berge said the award was a criticism of President George Bush's policy on Iraq. So what does the former President, who brokered the Camp David accords between Egypt and Israel in 1978, think of America's current policy towards Iraq and the Middle East? And how is his work in conflict resolution and promoting human rights making a difference to the world? This interview can be watched in full on Monday 10 December on BBC World and BBC News 24 at the following times: BBC News 24 (times shown in GMT) 0430, repeated 2230 BBC World (times shown in GMT) 0330, repeated 1130, 1530, 1830, 2330
