Helping to beat cancer in India
Getting the right treatment and support is difficult
In a HARDtalk interview on 29 November, Harmala Gupta, Founder of CanSupport, India's first Cancer Support Group, met Tim Sebastian.
The people of India have one of the highest percentages of serious disease per capita in the world. But sometimes the cure is as much about changing attitudes as it is about administering drugs. Harmala Gupta is the founder of CanSupport, a small non-governmental organisation that offers palliative care to terminally ill cancer patients. In Delhi, Tim Sebastian asked her about her struggle to break through the wall of ignorance, suspicion and fear that surrounds cancer in the country.
This interview can be watched in full on Friday 29 November on BBC World and BBC News 24 at the following times: BBC News 24 (times shown in GMT) 0430, repeated 2230 BBC World (times shown in GMT) 0330, repeated 1130, 1530, 1830, 2330
