Husband denies murder charge
crime scene
The body was found in a country lane
A Lincolnshire man has denied murdering his wife.

The body of Shirley Simcox, 48, was discovered with gunshot wounds in a country lane near Withern, Lincolnshire, in September.

At Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, her 68-year-old husband Desmond pleaded not guilty to murdering her.

Mrs Simcox was found fatally injured on a track off the A157 at Withern between Louth and Mabblethorpe.

A home office pathologist performed a post mortem examination at Lincoln County Hospital.

Mr Simcox, from Mablethorpe, was remanded in custody and the case was adjourned for a trial date to be set.
