Bradford bishop officially appointed
The service takes place at York Minster
The new bishop of Bradford will be officially appointed in an ancient legal ceremony.
The Right Reverend David James, the former Bishop of Pontefract, will be installed following the Confirmation of Election at York Minster. He said: "I'm very excited about beginning work as the Bishop of Bradford. "I keep hearing about the good things happening in the parishes of the Diocese of Bradford and I want to see for myself." Bradford pilgrimage The ceremony will be conducted by the Archbishop of York, Dr David Hope. And on Saturday 4 January a "service of welcome" will be held for the new bishop at Bradford Cathedral. Mr James is planning a three day walking pilgrimage through Bradford Diocese before the service. He begins in Skipton on New Year's Day and ends in Shipley on 3 January 2002.
