A Belfast man has been convicted of murdering a man stabbed in a fast food restaurant in the city centre in February of last year.

Anthony Hagans, 29, from Ross Street in west Belfast showed no emotion after a jury of eight women and three men gave a majority verdict of ten to one at Belfast Crown Court on Thursday.

Afterwards, Hagans' lawyer indicated he might appeal the conviction.

Hagans had denied murdering 32-year-old David Finn from Forthriver Parade in Belfast.

He was stabbed in the heart during a confrontation at the McDonald's restaurant on the junction of Castle Place and Donegall Place on 23 February last year.

It was the second time he had been tried for the murder of Mr Finn. In May this year, a jury failed to reach a verdict after the initial trial.

On Thursday the judge adjourned sentencing until pre-sentence reports were prepared.
