Jazz helped police during the raids
Police in Bradford are using a drugs dog called Jazz to crack down on dealers.

The two-year-old Springer Spaniel has guided officers from the city's drugs team to large amounts of heroin and cannabis during a four-day purge on dealers and couriers.

The specialist sniffer dog - and handler PC Steve Wilson - have had spectacular successes during the A Community Against Drugs campaign.

Jazz came into his own during the series of raids, finding drugs hidden behind kitchen units, in garages, and even in one man's jacket pocket.

police station has caused major disruption to the local drugs trafficking market.

Some of the raids have been initiated after calls from the public during the Dob in a Dealer hotline scheme.

Detective Sergeant Gary Taylor of Bradford District Drugs Team said:"He has a real nose for the job and has found drugs which we would not have been able to get to through traditional search methods."

The four-day operation has resulted in the arrest of 24 people.
