Man jailed for knifepoint rapes
Liverpool Crown Court
The court heard Wycherley may re-offend
A man from Merseyside has been jailed for seven years after repeatedly raping a teenage girl at knifepoint.

Liverpool Crown Court was told Peter Wycherley put the 17-year-old through an "horrendous ordeal" which lasted three-and-a-half-hours.

Wycherley, 23, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to rape, false imprisonment, indecent assault and theft.

"This was a horrendous ordeal for this young woman which she will never forget," Judge Sean Duncan told him.

Re-offending risk

"The suffering she went through that night is hard to imagine and it was a wicked thing to do."

A psychiatrist told the court he found Wycherley displayed no empathy with the girl and there was a potential risk of him re-offending.

Judge Duncan ordered Wycherley to sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.

Keith Sutton, prosecuting, told the court that on 11 October this year, the victim spent the evening with a group, including Wycherley, at her Wallasey flat.

When the others left he was reluctant to go and shortly after leaving came back saying he had lost his lighter.

After threatening her with the knife, he subjected his victim to the ordeal.

Alan Boscoe, defending, said Wycherley, who had no previous convictions, could not explain his behaviour and pleaded guilty to spare his victim having to give evidence.
