Ex-Bangladesh air force chief arrested
Police in the Bangladeshi capital, Dhaka, have arrested a former chief of the air force following allegations that he assaulted two soldiers.

Police say the retired Air Vice Marshall, Jamaluddin Ahmed, was picked up from his residence in Dhaka early on Thursday.

They say they are now investigating the allegations, and Mr Ahmed will be produced before a court in the next few days.

The case centres on a complaint filed against Mr Ahmed by two air force sergeants in a Dhaka police station.

They alleged that while they were passing his car on Wednesday, Mr Ahmed suddenly stopped the vehicle and physically assaulted them.

But family members of the former air chief say all he did was to ask the soldiers why they were following him.
