US soldier shot in Afghanistan

A United States military spokesman in Afghanistan has said that a US special forces soldier was shot and wounded near the eastern town of Gardez.

The soldier, who is in a stable condition, was riding in a convoy when the attack occurred.

The gunman escaped.

The US military has not said who they believe responsible for the attack.
