In brief: Singers scoop lifetime Grammys
Singers Simon and Garfunkel, Johnny Mathis and Etta James are to be given lifetime achievement Grammys.

Performers to be honoured posthumously at the 45th Grammys on 23 February include big-band leader Glenn Miller and Latin jazz performer Tito Puente.

Folk music archivist Alan Lomax and the New York Philharmonic will receive Trustees Awards.

Gervais helps disabled workers

The star of The Office, Ricky Gervais, is shooting an advert to help stop prejudice against disabled workers.

The ads are jobability.com, a website for disabled jobseekers, and will be shown in cinemas from next month.

In the adverts, Gervais will play a character very like The Office's David Brent, giving ridiculous reasons for not hiring disabled people.

Gervais and The Office are to return next year, but it is not known whether it will be as another full series for BBC Two.

Judge reduces P Diddy claim

A US judge has reduced a fine against Sean "P Diddy" Combs from £2m to £450,000 (£300,000).

Judge William Z Wood of Forsyth Superior Court, Georgia, said Combs must pay damages to Cedrick Bobby Lemon, who sued Combs after the star allegedly ordered bodyguards to beat him up at a concert in 1995.

The judge had previously ordered Combs to pay $2.4m (£1.6m) because he had not answered Lemon's claim within a given time period.

Combs' lawyers are seeking to have the remaining judgement dismissed.

Crowe dubbed coldest star

Russell Crowe has been dubbed Hollywood's coldest star by an online film magazine.

FilmThreat.com placed the Gladiator star at the head of its annual Frigid 50 poll for being "our favourite wild boor, whose bad-boy big mouth and chip-on-the-shoulder easily cost him an Oscar for A Beautiful Mind".

Among the other names slated are Winona Ryder, Cuba Gooding Jr, Richard Gere, Barbra Steisand and Anna Nicole Smith.

The magazine says of its number 33, Jennifer Lopez: "With bombs like The Wedding Planner under her butt, we're just trying to remember when she was any good at all."
