Toddler sees intruders attack mother
Police tape
Police have appealed for information about the attack
A woman has been seriously assaulted in front of her two-year-old son in her own home by burglars in Bloxwich, Walsall.

The woman and a man were at home with the toddler on his birthday when two people broke into the house in the town's Brook Street on Monday night.

The couple were then threatened with what are thought to have been a craft knife and a screw driver.

Police said the mother sustained serious facial injuries during the attack, which they described as vicious and deliberate.

The 22-year-old man who was holding the toddler was hit with the handle of the screwdriver.

The 20-year-old woman was then repeatedly punched in the face by one of the raiders, who was female.
