Come back Roy, says Houllier

Roy Evans leaving Anfield in November - could he be back soon?

Roy Evans is welcome to come back to Anfield, according to general manager Gerard Houllier.

The Frenchman has said that there are various jobs available to former boss Evans, who parted company with the club last November after more than 35 years of unbroken service.

Evans and Houllier began the season as joint managers of the club, but the Englishman was the principal victim of Liverpool's poor run of form in the autumn.

Since his departure, he has been on holiday and done some TV work, but has not returned to Anfield to watch a game.

"If he wants to return and have some work, be it in the scouting or recruiting of top players, then I would be very happy because I enjoyed working with Roy." Houllier confirmed.

"A job here does not just involve the first team. There is also the Academy. That represents something to me because it means the development of our own players." he added.

"It would be good if Roy could find another job in management and I think he can. But I mean this, I would like to see him back at this club at some stage." said the Frenchman.

One of the jobs offered to Evans before he quit as Liverpool joint manager was that of Youth Academy manager, but Evans said at the time that he did not wish stay at the club and become "a ghost".
