Couple in court over noisy peacock
Peacocks can make a loud, screeching sound
A Northamptonshire couple have gone to court because of a noisy peacock.
Roy and Bridget Hunt from Mill Lane in Greens Norton were found guilty on Wednesday at Towcester magistrates' court of failure to comply with a noise abatement notice. They told the court the peacock, who is called Percy, belonged to a day nursery which happened to be on their land. The couple's daughter Victoria owns the nursery and she said her parents should not have had to go through a trial, as the peacock is really hers. Countryside noises "Apparently I was the true owner of Percy," she said. "He was given to the nursery as a pet by my brother, so I should have been the one tried and not my parents. "I'm gutted on the outcome. "If people move to the countryside then people should put up with any noises that come from animals." The couple were given an absolute discharge.
