Afghan police find explosives
Afghan security forces say they have arrested a number of people and seized a quantity of explosives at a hydro-electric plant near the capital, Kabul.

Afghan state media say those arrested were trying to destroy the electricity supply to Kabul.

A spokesman for the international peacekeeping force in the city, Major Mike Edwards, said the explosives were found in the dam's generator room on Monday.

Kabul Radio said four other bombs were found by police in a separate incident.

In September, 30 people were killed in a series of bomb blasts in Kabul, which authorities said were the work of the Taliban and Al-Qaeda.
