Bradford tackles school places surplus
Bradford is set to tackle surplus school places
Bradford is planning to slash 255 school intake places in a bid to tackle a surplus across the district's primary schools.
The move will be discussed by the city's councillor's next week after extensive plans to close or merge some schools were rejected. A further plan to open two new schools on the Parkland and Westwood sites have been withdrawn after a consultation process. Under the proposed scheme 12 primary schools could see their intake numbers reduced by up to 30 places a year. If approved the changes to school admission rates would be introduced from September 2004. Bradford City Council are also considering wider use of school buildings for community activities following the drop in the number of pupils at the primary sites. |
