Korsten dribbles in to Leeds ![]() Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink (left) has a new compatriot at Elland Road Leeds United have confirmed the loan signing of Dutch midfielder Willem Korsten from Vitesse Arnhem until the end of the season. And the 6ft 3in left-sided player arrives with a promise to show the Elland Road fans his dribbling skills. Korsten put pen to paper on a deal which will see him on loan with United until the end of the season, with the possibility of a permanent £1.3m transfer in the summer. The 23-year-old passed a medical despite a series of injury problems with his Dutch club, although he has been injury free for the last 18 months. He impressed Leeds boss David O'Leary during a recent trial and is now looking to nail down a place in the side. He said: "The coach at Vitesse didn't want me in the team, so I decided to look for another club in Holland and there were a few interested, but then Leeds came in. "I had a good impression of the club during my trial and I hope everything works out okay because playing in English football and in the Premiership has been my dream." Dribbler Korsten says he is a tall man with good skill on the ball, and he is vowing to outshine new team-mate Harry Kewell. "I like to play on the left wing or just behind the strikers and I love to dribble with the ball. "I saw a poll in a Dutch newspaper recently about dribblers and Harry Kewell was in sixth position - I would like to beat him. "It should be a good battle. I'm always in for a battle so we will have to see what comes of it." Korsten will not be available for Saturday's trip to Blackburn having returned home to Holland to tie up loose ends, although he should line up for the reserves against Sunderland on Monday. |
