A French lawyer has filed complaints in Paris against the Cuban President, Fidel Castro for crimes against humanity and drug trafficking.
The lawyer, Serge Lewisch, claims that the jailing of a French photographer and a Cuban artist on the island in the 1970s and 1980s represented crimes against humanity.
The drug trafficking charge has been made by the daughter of Colonel Antonio de la Guardia, who was executed in 1989 for allegedly smuggling drugs into the United States.
The daughter, Ileana de la Guardia, argues that Fidel Castro was in charge of the drug-smuggling operation.
