Anger over new homes development
Blueprint
Councillors have approved plans for 10 new homes
A group of residents in Penryn has vowed to continue fighting a planning application for 10 homes on a site in Andrewartha Road.

A development scheme for the site has been under discussion for more than 14 years.

Poltair Homes' scheme was approved by Carrick District councillors after the developers changed the plans in response to local concerns.

Poltair Homes said that local objections are misconceived and it wants to work closely with local residents.

Acceptable scheme

But Glenda Hudson has recently moved close to the development site and said she is devastated it is going ahead.

She said: "It's the prospect of suddenly having that lovely view wiped away by plans to put up three storey houses.

"If they were lower or bungalows then there wouldn't be a complaint, I don't want to lose this amazing view."

The chief planning officer at Carrick District Council, Derek Ballard, said that councillors had no choice but to approve the scheme, after the developers altered their plans.

Mr Ballard said: "The inspector clearly was unhappy and the applicants have adjusted the plans to meet the concerns of the inspector so the council must treat it on that basis.

"We're not in a position to say no to everything.

"If an acceptable scheme does come along eventually then the council is obliged to go with it."
