Ure fined for careless driving
Midge Ure
Midge Ure has been fined by Norfolk magistrates
Pop star Midge Ure has been fined £500 and ordered to pay £35 costs after he admitted driving without due care and attention.

Ure, 49, of Monkton Farleigh, Wiltshire, also had five penalty points placed on his driving licence when he appeared before magistrates in King's Lynn, Norfolk, on Tuesday.

The court heard that Ure was involved in a minor accident in Norfolk while driving his Chrysler people carrier to a concert near Fakenham where he was performing.

Ure, who was in court, said the crash at Twyford in August, happened as a result of a "momentary lapse in concentration".

Ure is best remembered as the front man of the 1980s band Ultravox and for his part in the organisation of the 1985 Band Aid record and Live Aid concert.

Ure appeared on the court listing under his real names of James Ure.
