Kippe joins the Reds ![]() Rigobert Song (centre) will also join the Anfield squad when he receives his work permit Liverpool have completed the £700,000 signing of Norwegian under-21 international defender Frode Kippe. The Premiership club are also interested in Dutch striker Erik Meijer but denied he is set to move to Anfield this week. Bayer Leverkusen forward Meijer is out of contract at the end of the season and the Bundesliga club could be willing to sell him now rather than lose out on a fee. A Liverpool spokesman said: "Meijer is a player we have got an interest in but he will not be signing in the immediate future. "We have signed Kippe this morning (Wednesday) after he came through his medical. "He has returned home to sort out his personal affairs and will return to the club next week." The fee for the 19-year-old Lillestroem centre-half could rise to £2m depending on appearances. Liverpool have also invited Dutch goalkeeper Stefan Postma to train with them for a week. The FC Utrecht player is hoping to follow the lead of Cameroon defender Rigobert Song, who impressed while training with Liverpool and will sign as soon as he receives a work permit. |
