Israeli soldiers critically wound Palestinian

Reports from Israel say Israeli soldiers have shot and seriously wounded a Palestinian man in the West Bank town of Hebron.

Witnesses said the troops fired as the man ran towards them brandishing a gun.

The weapon was later found to be a toy plastic gun, and local residents said the man was known to be mentally disabled.

After the incident, Palestinian youths pelted Israeli soldiers with stones in several areas of the city.

A curfew was imposed on Palestinians living in the Israeli-controlled part of Hebron on Monday, after Palestinian gunmen opened fire on a car, wounding two Israeli women.
