Skatepark boost for youngsters
Skateboarding
A petition has been signed calling for a new skatepark
Young people in Bradford are likely to get a £50,000 skatepark.

Councillors are expected to lend their overwhelming support to proposals to build the facility at Ravenscliffe.

Bradford North Area Committee will disuss the plans at a meeting on 26 November.

More than 100 people have signed a petition asking for a skatepark to be built.

Preferred site

Local residents have been working in conjunction with council officials to find a suitable site.

The preferred location is now at Eccleshill next to the existing BMX track and children's play area.

Councillor Anne Hawkesworth is supporting the plans and said: "The introduction of a skatepark will give local youngsters another safe play area to use close to their homes.

"We've already worked with the community to provide other play facilites in this area and hope this project will have a positive outcome."

Once the plans are accepted work will begin to secure funding for the project which is expected to cost around £50,000.
