'Unexploded bombs' kill Afghan children

A spokesman for the international security force in the Afghan capital, Kabul, says two young children were killed and another wounded when they picked up unexploded bombs yesterday.

The spokesman said the two children died when a mortar bomb they were handling exploded at a brick factory in the east of the city.

In a separate incident, another child had his hand blown off by a butterfly mine.

The International Committee of the Red Cross says more than 120 people are killed and injured each month by unexploded bombs throughout Afghanistan.
