Man raped in Suffolk town
Police tape
Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward
A man was attacked and raped in a Suffolk town in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Police said the 30-year-old victim had gone out to a cashpoint at about 0010 GMT and was walking back along Jubilee Road, near the bus station in Haverhill.

He was grabbed from behind by at least two men and raped.

The victim shouted and managed to push his attackers away, before making his way to the police station.

The man told Suffolk Police he saw three men before the attack as he made his way to the cash machine.

Police search

All were white and possibly wearing black caps, and one was wearing a tartan scarf.

Detective Inspector Rick Munns appealed to the men to come forward.

He said: "We urgently need to eliminate the men from our inquiries.

"I think it likely that there were a number of people out and about in this area, and I would like anyone who was there to contact me at Haverhill CID on 01284 774 475 as they may have information that could prove to be invaluable to this inquiry."

The scene of the attack has been sealed off, and officers are searching the area.
