The United States says it has blocked more than twenty million dollars in transactions with Yugoslavia, since it imposed sanctions last June.

In a report to Congress, President Clinton said the sanctions were still needed to discourage the Yugoslav authorities from using force in Kosovo.

Under the sanctions, the US government banned investment in Yugoslavia and froze all assets held by the Yugoslav government or state-owned banks in the US.
