Tony Blair set to begin his South African visit

The British Prime Minister, Tony Blair, arrives in South Africa later today for a three day official visit.

British trade and investment in the country will dominate the agenda, including an attempt to resolve a long running dispute with Europe over South Africa's use of the terms 'port' and 'sherry' for some fortified wines.

The BBC's Africa correspondent says Mr Blair is also using the visit to say farewell to the retiring President, Nelson Mandela, who he hopes will will support British policy on Lockerbie and Iraq.

South African Muslim groups have already expressed their anger over British and American airstrikes, and have vowed to hound Mr Blair throughout his visit.
