Alzheimer's sufferer found dead
Police searching
The search for Mr Lewis involved 100 police officers
A man who went missing during a trip to work with conservation volunteers, has been found dead following a police search.

Terry Lewis, 59, of Mansfield, was last seen with the group close to Thoresby Colliery, Nottinghamshire, on 11 November.

His body was found on Tuesday in a ditch half-a-mile from a footpath close to the A6075.

Roadblocks and a search involving 100 police officers had been set up after Mr Lewis, who suffered from Alzheimer's disease, disappeared.

A Nottinghamshire police spokesman said: "Police have found the body of Terry Lewis and are not treating his death as suspicious at this stage."

Mr Lewis was due to celebrate his 25th wedding anniversary next week.

He disappeared while helping with a conservation project in Mansfield Woodhouse.

Items of his clothing were recovered close to the area where his body was found.

Police said a post-mortem examination and a formal identification would take place on Wednesday.
