Pinochet fundraising blitz

Supporters of Chile's former military leader, General Augusto Pinochet, who is under house arrest in London, have launched a fundraising campaign to help pay for his mounting legal bills which are believed to have reached more than one-million dollars.

The privately-run Pinochet Foundation has openend telephone hotlines where people can make donations.

They're also selling a tribute compact disc, featuring a song written from General Pinochet's perspective by the Chilean composer Willy Bascunan.

The British law lords are scheduled to meet later this month on January 18thto reconsider whether the General should be extradited to Spain to face charges of torture and genocide.

An earlier ruling was set aside because one of the judges failed to disclose his links with Amnesty International, one of the groups campaigning for his extradition.
