Pressure increases for political reform in Hong Kong

Prominent business figures in Hong Kong are joining the Democrats in calling for a more responsive system of government.

The former Chairman of the Liberal Party and well-known businessman, Allen Lee, made a passionate plea for a ministerial system.

Top government posts are currently filled by senior cicil servants, and Mr Lee said this was plainly wrong.

The BBC correspondent in Hong Kong says the government's handling of a series of health scandals in the past year and the presence of the economic recession has sparked heavy criticism of the administration.
