Royal review for England
Buckingham Palace
The reception was in the Blue Drawing Room
The England team and members of the FA were guests of honour at a reception at Buckingham Palace hosted by the Queen.

In the line-up for the party were the 23-strong England team.

Coach Sven-Goran Erikssen and back-room staff were also present.

In all, 75 people attended the reception in the Blue Drawing Room.

Players and management were invited

England captain David Beckham, coach Erikssen and FA acting chief executive Geoffrey Thompson were the first to be presented to the Queen.

She asked the England captain how he was coping after an alleged plot to kidnap his family.

"She raised the subject of security and if anyone is going to know about that, it's the Queen," said Beckham.

Mr Thompson said the event was a thank you from the Queen for the excitement and pride the World Cup sparked at a time which coincided with her jubilee.

"Sven, the players and all the staff are delighted and hugely honoured to receive this invitation from Her Majesty."

Earlier this year the Queen met the England coach with defenders Sol Campbell and Martin Keown during a Golden Jubilee visit to the FA's training headquarters in Buckinghamshire.
