Kashmir clashes leave 13 dead
At least 12 suspected Islamic militants and an Indian army officer have been killed in three separate incidents in Indian-administered Kashmir.

Indian police told a BBC correspondent that six militants were killed in a gun battle with Indian army troops in Poonch district.

An Indian army captain also died.

In Ramgarh sector, soldiers shot dead five suspected fighters - suspected to be Bangladeshi - apparently trying to cross the border between India and Pakistan.

Troops killed another fighter in Udhampur.

Meanwhile, a civilian and an officer of the Border Security Force were killed and seven others injured when a mine was detonated in the northern town of Bandipora, as security personnel tried to defuse a device nearby.

Three separate Islamic militant groups have claimed responsibility for the explosion.
