Neighbour's camera may hold murder clue
Heather Mary Barnett
Heather Barnett was murdered a week ago
A neighbour's security camera may have captured the bloodstained man who murdered a mother of two as he fled from her home.

Police hope video footage of the street in Bournemouth will reveal vital clues to the murder of Heather Barnett a week ago.

Her 11-year-old daughter and 14-year-old son found their mother's body lying in a pool of blood when they came home from school on 12 November.

The team of 50 officers working on the case have discovered one of Mrs Barnett's neighbours has a CCTV camera that faces the road.

Residents are urged to come forward if they remember anything

Detective Superintendent Phil James

Detectives are appealing for more residents of Capstone Road in Charminster with similar equipment to get in touch.

They have also asked neighbours to check their gardens and garages for a heavy hammer and knife used in the attack.

Detective Superintendant Phil James, leading the investigation, said: "Residents are urged to come forward if they remember anything relevant to the inquiry, especially anyone outside her house on the day she was killed."

Mrs Barnet, 48, was last seen alive on Tuesday at 0830 GMT when she dropped her children off at school.

Detectives now think she was killed later that morning.

Her children are off school and being cared for by friends of the family.

A man arrested in connection with the murder was released on police bail on 14 November.
