Senior Iranian official survives assassination attempt

Reports from Tehran say a senior Iranian justice official has survived an assassination attempt.

The Iranian news agency said the head of the Tehran judiciary, Ali Razini, was attacked by gunmen while travelling in a car in the capital.

The judge was injured in the leg but his general condition is reported to be satisfactory.

It was not immediately clear who was behind the attack.

Mr Razini, who heads the Special Court for the Clergy, is a hardline conservative who is closely allied to Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
