Man shot outside his home
Port Arthur Rd crime scene
The attack happened in Port Arthur Road
A 29-year-old man is being treated in hospital after a shooting on a street in Nottingham on Monday night.

Police have sealed off the area while forensic examinations are carried out after the attack at about 2215 GMT.

It is understood the Asian man was outside his home on Port Arthur Road, in Sneinton, when he was attacked.

The attack is just the latest in a spate of recent gun crimes in Nottingham.

Police conducted a fingertip search

Police sealed off the road and carried out a fingertip search of the area.

The victim, who was shot in the stomach, was taken to the Queen's Medical Centre.

His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Police were not releasing any further details.

However, one eye witness has told police she saw two or three men in a red or maroon coloured Vauxhall Astra drive away after the shooting.

Two cars were taken away from the scene by police for forensic examination.

Only last week, Nottinghamshire's chief constable Steve Green said the number of gun-carrying officers would be doubled in an attempt to combat the gun crime problem.
