The new government of Sao Tome and Principe has been sworn in two months after elections gave the Prime Minister, Guilherme Posser da Costa, an absolute majority in parliament.

He said the centre-left government would introduce an austerity packaage while seeking to boost the economy through offshore oil exploration and agricultural development.
